Dan Stenson and Sharole Bell representing the Kinsmen Club of Kitimat were at the Mayor’s Office on Thursday, January 30th where Mayor Joanne Monaghan signed a proclamation for Kin Week, February 17th to the 22nd, and Founders Day, February 20th, for the Kinsmen.

“It was established on February 20th, 1920, was the first Kinsmen Meeting in Hamilton Ontario,” said Stenson.

This year, they will be celebrating with the Terrace Club and having a big dinner. They will be inviting dignitaries and celebrating.

Locally, the Kinsmen chair Festivals Kitimat. They are the ones behind all of the Kitimat July 1st celebrations. They host the parade themselves. They do many events to raise money to raise money for their causes.

Their causes include the Provincial Kinsmen Cause, raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. Locally, they help every group which comes to them, a list which includes Sporting Groups, Kids Groups, Food Bank and a Scholarship group.

Stenson and Bell concluded by saying they are always looking for members.
