KITIMAT GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION RECEIVES GRANT FROM ENVISION FINANCIAL
The Kitimat General Ho9ptial Foundation was the recipient of a $10,000 grant presented by Wendy Kraft Branch Manager of Envision Financial on Thursday, January 16th.
The funds are a result of a n application for a community funding grant to the head office of Envision Financial in 2013 and will be invested in a reserve account specifically for the development of a future multilevel care facility in Kitimat.
The primary goal of the Foundation is to ensure that the local medial services and facilities are exceptional in Kitimat and remain that way in the future.
Chairperson Corinne Scott stated “the funds received from Envision Finical is a welcome surprise and has provided a significant start to the campaign for additional Multi-Level Care beds.”
Hospital Foundation member on hand to receive the grant were Corinne Scott, Chair; Doug Thomson, Vice Chair, Faculty Sub Committee Members Margaret Sanou. Missing were Faculty Sub Committee Members Barb Campbell, Carl, Whicher, Director and Mario Feldhoff, Director.
The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation is a volunteer organization that has raised over $80,000 to support health care for the citizens of Kitimat. All funds raised go towards projects either perceived by the donors or determined in collaboration with the medical staff and Northern Health to be of immediate benefit to patients.
The current campaign is to raise $50,000 towards a portable ultrasound machine to be used in the emergency room and acute care area of the hospital. This piece of equipment can help doctors make faster and more accurate diagnosis and avoid unneeded exploratory surgeries.
