NEWS RELEASE · 17th December 2013
Kitimat Food Bank Society
The Christmas hampers are delivered and with so many volunteers drivers and helpers turning out with their vehicles, including three fire trucks, everything was delivered and we were finished by 11 a.m. Thank you so much for those of you who assisted in the deliveries – fortunately the worst of the rain held off until lunch time; we did not have to wade through a foot of snow, the ice had melted and all was good! Those hampers not delivered were returned to the Food Bank to be picked up this past week. 230 hampers were delivered with another 20 or so made up this week for pick up.

Hamper week was busy but with so much help and great organization, all went very well. The donated gifts were absolutely phenomenal. We had some special gifts that names had to be drawn for as there were not enough for everyone and these included 7 bicycles (for various age groups, boys and girls), a rocking horse, cradle and doll with clothing and bedding as well as a Lego table and chairs – thanks to D L Baker employees and Jim Ferguson. I would also like to extend our thanks to Bryan and Allan for driving over from Terrace on Friday to make their annual Canadian Tire donation as well as to Cameron and Walter for turning up to do photo-ops.

Cash donations this past week included White Gift Sunday – United Church – Rev. D Lethbridge 2 x $25 gift certificates; R Brady $50; Anonymous $100; G&A Holmes $50; Anonymous $200; J L Meeds $100; D&B Horwood $50; E Robinson $100; J&G Moore $50; Anonymous $20; M Moore $20; Anonymous $10; G&M Frater $150; D Griffiths $50; J Nidd $50; Anonymous $50; A&J Pierce $100; F McFarlane $120; Anonymous $12.
