Kitimat City Council is meeting Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week to put together the 2014 Budget. On Monday, December 9th, at an undetermined time, following a closed meeting which starts at 6:00 pm, the budget process begins in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College.

First off, CAO Ron Poole will be giving an overview of the budget process followed by a second overview by the Treasurer. Following the overviews, the District of Kitimat Departments will give several presentations.

Poole will present on Council and General Administration. Deputy CAO will present on Corporate Administration, the Humane Society and Transit. This is followed by presentations on Economic Development, the Fire Department, the Planning Department, Engineering and Transportation and Leisure Services.

On Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 Pm, the presentations continue with the community groups and services which are funded by tax dollars. These groups include: Mount Elizabeth Theatre, Kitimat RCMP, Kitimat Public Library, Kitimat Victim Services, Kitimat Arts for Youth, Kitimat Understanding the Environment, Kitimat Museum and Archives, Kitimat Emergency Plan, Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club, Kitimat Flying Club and the Kitimat Health Advocacy Group.

The Final Day begins at 6:00 Pm. Council will be going over Community and Other Grants with the CAO, there is a discussion on reserves with the Municipal treasurer and there is a continuation of other Budget Presentations, if it is required.
