The District of Kitimat had its annual Appointees dinner on Wednesday, November 13th at the Luso Hall. Volunteers and Employees came out to be recognized for the work which they do for the community.
“It is one of our honours that we have as a Council and Mayor to have all of you, who have been such wonderful volunteers over the year to come and join us and have dinner with us,” said Mayor Joanne Monaghan.
After the dinner, Monaghan and all of the City Councillors introduced the committees which they sit on. Present were the Library Board, the Traffic Committee, the Museum Board, the Advisory Planning Committee, the Advisory Leisure Services Committee, Board of Variance, the Advisory Commission for Person’s with Disabilities, the Advisory Housing Commission, the Kitimat Emergency Plan Coordinators and the Citizenship Court.
The camera volunteers who film the Council Meetings and members of the media were also thanked for the work they do to bring the events of City Council to the people of Kitimat.
Elisabeth Stannus from the Advisory Planning Commission and Katherine Johnson from the Museum Board were recognized for completing their terms and retiring from the committee.
Monaghan thanked all of the volunteers and workers for doing all they do for the community of Kitimat.
