Kitimat City Council Meets tonight, Monday, November 18th for their Regular Meeting of Council. The fun begins at 7:30 Pm in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College.

The meeting begins with a Public Hearing concerning the Downtown Revitalization Area Development Permit Amendment Bylaw.

Under petitions and Presentations, there is a presentation from Joe Zhou, the Project Manager from Coastal Gas Link. Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison has his Monthly Policing Report. There is an introduction of the Shecana Exchange Students. Finally, Cheryl Rumley of the Tamitik Status of Women has a financial request for the upcoming 2014 budget.

After approving minutes, there are three motions. The first is to check the financing for putting an elevator into the Museum by Councillor Mary Murphy. This is followed by two motions by Councillor Edwin Empinado. The first is to look into the role of secondary suites for filling the need for low income housing. The second is to try and get amenity funding from developers to put towards housing.

Under Bylaws, Council gives third reading to the Council Procedure Amendment Bylaw, give 2 readings to the Planning Fee Amendment Bylaw, 1st reading to the Crossroads Residential Dormitory OCP and Zoning Amendment Bylaw and 3 readings to the 2014 Revenue Anticipation Borrowing Bylaw.

Under Reports, there is a report on the resumption of Mail Delivery on Farrow Street. There is a report on North West Community College’s request for a letter of Support for innovative School of Marine and Coastal Studies and the statement of Accounts for October, 2013.

Finally, Under Communications is request from the Tamitik Status of Women to request a meeting to discuss Social Impact Funding.
