REPORTING · 6th November 2013
Mayor Joanne Monaghan once again delivered her good news at the Regular Meeting of Council on Monday, November 4th.
“Council and I have had several groups meet with us on housing and development, but they are all confidential at this time. Some are from China and some are from Canada. It’s very interesting for us to meet with these people,” said Monaghan.
She reflected on Let’s Talk Energy, where Peter Tertzakian spoke, which was put on by Kitimat Economic Development Association (KEDA). She thanked them for putting it on.
Council met with RTA over lots for water access.
“We are still working on the Shelter for homeless in our community. Even though it is complex, we are trying to work through it. ATCO Trailers have one unit for 8 people that we can have. However, they want us to pay for the transport here, and I said, they had our services, and we were giving them services, and they were using our services and they should provide the transportation for us for this unit. We are still working on this and we will see what happens,” said Monaghan.
She expressed the 24/7 clinic is coming along and there should be some news on this in the coming weeks.
Monaghan thought PTI had made a final investment decision, but found out she was mistaken and told us after the meeting that, in actuality, they had signed a land agreement with Jack Oviatt.
