Chad Fournier stepped up to present to Council on a Northern Development Initiative Trust Grant which the Council is applying for on Monday, October 21st.

“Similar to other visits here to Council, I’m here on behalf of the Kitimat Snow Mobile and Hikers Club looking for additional community support for a third grant application that we are in the process of filling right now for Northern Development Initiative Trust. In recent months, with the support of Council and other community groups and members, we successfully filed applications for two other significant grants for ongoing recreation area restoration work, one is with the BC Gaming Commission and one is with Mountain Equipment Co-Op,” said Fournier.

He expressed those applications will be known by the end of November. Now, they are filing their third grant which will fall under community halls and recreation activities. The money will go to restoring the Robinson Ridge Snowmobile and Hiking Cabin. He was looking for a letter of support.

With work in kind and similar included, the total value of the project is estimated at $140,000. Fournier told council they will be asking NDIT for around $35,000.

Later in the meeting, Councillor Corinne Scott made a motion to write a letter of support to the Northern Development Trust. The motion was called and carried.
