Following the public hearings at Kitimat City Council on Monday, October 21st, Mayor Joanne Monaghan delivered her good news.
“Council and Mayor did meet with Nathan Cullen and Council did give him a list of our concerns,” said Monaghan.
Chevron gave Council a presentation on Clio Bay. Monaghan and the CAO gave a presentation on what was really happening in Kitimat to the Seniors.
The housing committee had three meetings including one with a provincial representative. Monaghan reported nothing has happened thus far from them. However, there is a solution, Monaghan is working with Atco Trailers.
Monaghan told the public a new insurance store has opened in the City Centre Mall. She stated to the best of her understanding, the North Star has sold.
Council met with Sundance Developers about affordable housing in Kitimat.
Monaghan spoke at the opening of the Lyle Wilson Show at the Kitimat Museum and Archives. Chief Councillor Ellis Ross and Sammy Robinson also spoke.
Council met with the Airport Society and they presented their 20 year plan. The usage is increasing and they plan to expand.
“Council met with 15 investors through the BMO from Canada and from the States. We gave them a presentation on how they can spend their money here in Kitimat,” said Monaghan.
She concluded by thanking the Telethon team for raising approximately $48000 for Kitimat Services.

Its the go-to answer for Monaghan. When in doubt, say Atco. Kinda makes you wonder if she has shares in the company.
