Riverlodge has a new outdoor addition for seniors who are looking to stay in shape. Several devices are in place outside the Snowflake Seniors Centre.

“The District of Kitimat in conjunction with the Kitimat Senior’s Centre have installed outdoor fitness equipment which the seniors paid for through a grant from the Federal Government New Horizon’s Program,” said Martin Gould, head of Leisure Services.

“We purchased this exercise equipment through a New Horizon Grant last year. It finally arrived in the Fall and the District has put it in the ground and they take care of it and they are in charge of it,” said Tilly Bachmann. “It’s for use by everyone.”

The District of Kitimat paid for the installation of the equipment, which is designed for exercising outdoors. Gould told us the seniors picked out appropriate equipment for their cliental. While they are designed for seniors, this has not stopped other people from using them.

“The little kids come here, the teenagers come here, they all come here,” said Bachmann. She expressed the equipment is fun to use as well, which we were able to verify after a few seconds on the Air Swinger.
