REPORTING · 7th September 2013
Kitimat was the fourth stop on the tour for 100 community conversations. Representatives from Simon Frasier University were in Kitimat on Monday, August 19th.
“SFU Public Square is working on a program called 100 Community Conversations of our 2013 community summit. We’re looking at charting BC’s Economic Future. We’re working on a facilitated discussion which is happening 100 times. 8 of those are on a Provincial tour, 92 of those are self-organized by individuals across the province,” said Marissa Lawrence who was hosting the event.
Kitimat was a part of the Provincial Tour. While they learned a lot, the discussion will be organized into key themes of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as well as hopes and concerns. There will also visioning, such as what they want in 2030. When the report is ready, it will be released.
They were in Kitimat for a three hour session and had 15 people take part in it. In Kitimat, they worked with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce.
