The Riverlodge Summer Program held their kick off on Friday, June 28th. The theme of the Kick off was Pioneer Days.
“Today we’re having our summer kickoff, which is the large event at the beginning of the year which is free for all kids, ages three to 12 and there’s a bunch of different games, carnival style that the kids come to and they just enjoy the day,” said Linda Horianopoulos.
They got together costumes and props for the kick off and put on penny carnival games for the kids. The Kitimat Emergency Program even came out and had the kids tackle a makeshift ‘burning’ house with the fire Hose.
“There are some new programs such as Willy Wonka which is going to be a fun week filled with Chocolate. There is also a summer camp which is Bubbly Ballerinas which is for the preschoolers which should be a fun week for all the little dancers out there. We have a creative dance and drama week as well. Of course, we have all the classics kids love like Everything You Ever Wanted to do but Your Mother Wouldn’t Let You, Water Wars, Wild, Wet and Wacky, Colourful Body Splash,” said Horianopoulos.
There are three camp outs scheduled for this year as well. Horianopoulos said they have a great staff and good plans which wish she was still young enough to take the programs.
