With the Canada Stage Show Underway, it was time for the public servants to get up on stage and wish everyone a Happy Canada Day. Sara Weeres sang O Canada.

Member of Parliament Nathan Cullen was the first Speaker. He wished everyone a happy Canada Day and stated it was a pleasure to come to Kitimat for Canada Day as we know the correct way to celebrate it. “A Beautiful parade, but most importantly, lots of food. That’s what Canada Day is about. All of these amazing communities which have come together, celebrating each other and celebrating living in the best country in the world,” said Cullen.

Member of Legislative Assembly Robin Austin reflected on a conversation held earlier with a member of the press. When asked if there was a speech prepared, he stated with most people lining up for food it is important to keep the speech short and wish everyone a Happy Canada Day. “I hope you have a great day with your families,” said Austin.

Mayor Joanne Monaghan welcomed everyone, commented on the Beautiful Weather and gave out the community recognition awards.
