Festivals Kitimat
Festivals Kitimat plans are exploding as we are a week away from the Canada Day Celebration in Kitimat!

The Canada Day Celebrations starts off with the 5th Annual Memorial Hill Climb on Saturday June 29th; rain out day will be on June 30th Or July 1st, starting at 10:00am. Join the crowd to see who will be crowned King or Queen of the Hill 2013.

Start your Canada Day at the upper City Centre Mall parking lot from 7:00 – 11:00am enjoying a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kitimat Humane Society.

The annual Kinsmen Club of Kitimat Canada Day parade will be leaving from Mountainview Square at noon with many floats, marchers and vehicles decorated for Canada’s birthday. The best decorated floats representing the theme of “Pioneer Days: 1953” will win prizes! You can still hand in your parade forms at our office in the Meeting Room in Riverlodge or by contacting Christine at 250-632-6193. To download a form, go to our website: www.festivalskitimat.com.

After the parade, the stage show will begin at Riverlodge from 1:00-6:00pm and 8:00-11:00pm then the fireworks will begin at 11:00pm. There will be door prizes, entertainment, and a raffle for the chance to win a trip for two to Vancouver from Hawkair! Come out and show your support for local entertainers. Inside Riverlodge there will be a Canada Day birthday cake handed out by the Girl Guides, so make sure you come in to get a piece! The Girl Guides will also be handing out seedlings for those interested.

Outside Riverlodge you will find Food and Craft Vendors at our International Food and Craft Fair. On the field, there will be soccer games from 11:30 - 5:45pm. Bring the kids over to the Kid’s Fun Zone, hosted by the Kitimat Child Development Centre. There will be activities and free prizes. The zone will be open from 1:30-3:45. Helicopter rides will also be happening from 1:00-6:00pm in baseball field #2. Finish the day at Riverlodge with the fireworks display done by the Kitimat Fire Department taking place at 11:00pm.

Don’t forget on Canada Day that there is free public bus service from 10:00am-6:00pm, as well as a free fun swim from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre.

The Kitimat Canada Day Celebration continues on Saturday July 6th! Come out and watch the 8th Annual Dragon Boat Festival at the Minette Bay Marina opening ceremonies start at 12:00pm.
