NEWS RELEASE · 20th February 2013
Northwest Science & Innovation
The 8th annual Kitimat Science Fair will be held on Saturday, March 2 at Mount Elizabeth Secondary School. Students from kindergarten to Grade 12 start at the local level where they gain valuable feedback from professional judges and experience of participating in the competition. Through inquiry and by following the scientific method, explorations span a range of fields from aerodynamics to astronomy to chemistry to electricity, electronics, energy and more.

Students then have the opportunity to advance to the Pacific Northwest Regional Science Fair. This is the first time the Regional Competition will be taking place in Terrace. In past years, the Regional Fair has been hosted in Hazelton, Smithers, Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert. The Regional Competition is where aspiring students from across the Northwest Region in Grades 7-12 come together to compete for top honors, exciting prizes and the opportunity to attend the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

Registration for the Kitimat Science Fair is FREE and is open to all K-12 students in the Kitimat and Kitamaat Village area, but please pre-register online at www.nsis.ca, and follow the links.
