REPORTING · 7th January 2013
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat City Council meets tonight for their first meeting of the New Year, Monday January 7th at 7:30 pm. While there is not much scheduled, the meeting is still going to be an interesting one.

The only presentation which is scheduled comes from Bill Dawson who lives on Farrow Street. He will be presenting to Council on the topic of Mail Delivery.

After approving minutes comes a motion from Councillor Corinne Scott. Scott is going to make a motion to support the BC Healthy Communities, Municipal Alcohol Program and send a letter of interest to apply for a seed grant of $7000 to develop a Municipal Alcohol Program.

Under reports, there is a travel grant request for $750 so Sabrina Trigo can attend the International Student Volunteers Program. Council will be asked to approve a development variance Permit for Rio Tinto Alcan. The third report concerns Mayor Joanne Monaghan and Councillor Mario Feldhoff being appointed to sit as Council’s representative on the Chamber of Commerce Board.

The fourth report is a verbal report from Councillor Phil Germuth. It concerns the Property Tax Assessments which were released earlier this month. The final report is the Statement of Accounts for December 2012.
