CONTRIBUTION · 14th December 2012
Kitimat Marine Rescue Society recieved an early Christmas gift from the Province this week. A $95,000 grant will go towards construction of a new rescue vessel for Kitimat and surrounding waters.
Contributions from B.C Gaming , local governments, business, and the community have brought the project fund to over $350,000 to date. With the cost of the project at $600,000 the society is still seeking assistance from the community.
Our volunteers are the first responders to all marine incidents in the Douglas Channel. Limited Canadian Coast Guard resources are up to 8 hours away .
Would you like to be in the water or in grave and imminent danger for 8 hours?. Our volunteers have seen the need and have been assisting people in distress for the last 25 years in Kitimat.
Our new vessel will limit the risk to our crews and allow us to give medical attention to injured people in a warm environment.
Like all the volunteer groups in Kitimat, we are investing in the community .
Have a safe and Happy Christmas from the Kitimat Marine Rescue Society!
To all boats in Terrace and Kitimat area....

Dig deep guys and donate some of your hard earned $$ to this project.
You don't realize how vital this service is....until you are out in the channel and need assistance.
