Kitimat Hamper Appeal
It's hard to believe how quickly the days are rushing past and by the time this article appears the Christmas Hampers are about to be delivered - Saturday, December 15th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Remember to those recipients to have an adult or responsible person at home to sign for the hamper or it will not be left. Undelivered hampers may be picked up at the Food Bank on Tuesday and Thursday between 1-3 p.m.

Fund raisers for hampers this weekend included Gareen's Christmas Show, sponsored by Astral Media, on Saturday outside Sight & Sound. Thank you to Astral Media and Green's guest hosts Lyle McNish from the District of Kitimat, Beverley Cooper (Gareen's sister-in-law visiting from Newfoundland), Karen Hoffman representing KBR, Wendy Kraft of Envision Credit Union and Haisla Chief Councillor, Ellis Ross - what a fun day filled with Christmas music and stories. A special thank you to Ray Hepting for donating one of his beautiful paintings for a silent auction and purchased by W. Kraft, as well as donating a limited print by C.P. Hebiert (silent auction with money going to the Bobby Wier fund) also purchased by W. Kraft. Thank you Dan Wall and Tom Bell - technicians for EZ Rock 97.7 and to Sight & Sound for use of location and power. On Sunday CNPR set up a truck outside Super Valu with several generous donations being made there including several bags of groceries. Almost $2000 was raised at these two events and amount is included below. Many gifts were also donated with Jim Ferguson and his family once again making and donating a beautiful rocking cradle with "baby" and bedding (bedding made by Jim's mother) and a unique rocking snail as well as numerous gifts donated by RTA and others. Sunday, December 2nd, the Pentecostal Church hosted the annual Ministerial Christmas Carol evening that was well attended setting the stage for the Christmas season and enjoyed by all.

Once again the District of Kitimat donated recreation passes for teens as they have so generously done over the years. The Nedland Family/Lander Electric donated Subway gift cards in the amount of $200. The grand total to date is $14,435.89 and with still two weeks until Christmas we know this amount will jumped hugely. Thank you all so much.

This has been a very busy week for the volunteers of the Christmas Hamper Appeal who have been setting up, sorting gifts and food, packing an delivering from the Catholic Church Hall - without their support, the generosity of all of you and with the assistance of the media as well as Overwaitea Foods and Super Valu we would not be able to have filled these hampers.
