Back in September, the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre closed down for its yearly maintenance. When it reopened, there were quite a few visible changes to the pool.

“We have a new observation wall in. That’s both for the safety of the viewing public as well as our staff that patrol the deck,” explained Shaun O’Niell.

The wall is there to give the lifeguards room to do their jobs during a swim meet. The wall is there to serve as a barrier so really young children do not get close enough to the pool to fall in.

A second change is a retrofit on the Sauna where the walls and seats were replaced. They also put new windows so life guards can better monitor the activities in the sauna.
