Bob Rae, the Interim Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada was in Kitimat on Monday, November 12th to meet with local leaders about Energy and Economic Development Issues. He met with Ellis Ross, the Chief Councillor for Kitamaat Village, all of the City Councillors and he met with Enbridge.

“We’re really trying to engage with people to get a sense of what the local concerns are and how people see these developments which are taking place,” said Rae.

He told us the Liberal Party is watching the review process rather closely.

Rae expressed there is a lot of activity going on in Kitimat, on the LNG side of the equation. Both Kitimat City Council and the Haisla First Nations told Rae this is the kind of projects people wish to see.

However, he was quick to point out that natural gas prices have dropped recently so the economics of these projects are uncertain. He stated there was a lot of potential for development though.

From Kitimat, he leaves to go to Prince George and then onward to Calgary.

“It’s been a very worthwhile trip,” said Rae.

Rta spends millions of dollars a year on dragon boat races . Which is really nice . However Canada was built by canoes , York boats , snowshoes and dogteams . Dragon boats are history . Just not our history .

And mean time the harper government tells us a hundred times a day on tv and radio how they are working hard to preserve our heritage . Bs our only little bit of heritage in kitimat is being held and withdrawn at will by their buddies Rta . If this is working hard for Canadians then what does sitting on their butts look like . We want our hospital beach and our trails . Come back Bob when you have a clue . And read your mail .
