The Kitimat Harvest Church is celebrating their 9th anniversary in Kitimat this year. As a part of the celebration, they held a community dinner on Friday, October 5th.

“What we’re doing is we’re showing our thankfulness on this thanksgiving weekend here in the community of Kitimat by throwing a free community dinner. It’s our ninth anniversary, birthday of the Harvest Church, so in gratitude of our parishioners and the community, we’re throwing a free dinner,” said Art Lucier.

The Harvest Church has taken two derelict buildings in Kitimat, Pine Plaza and the Nechako Movie Theatre and improve upon them. Pine Plaza was a building which was dilapidated and condemned. They rebuilt it for use as a church and then sold it to the Haisla Pentecostal Church.

As for the Movie Theatre, they have renovated it and show a couple of movies a month for the community.

One of their longer projects was to raise over $300,000 for orphans in Africa. “We have three orphanages which we built and we look after them on a monthly basis,” said Lucier.
