As a part of Mayor Joanne Monaghan’s good news for Monday October 1st, she had a special announcement of work she has done for people in the community of Kitimat.
“A few months ago, I had several phone calls from people who were house bound and could not get anywhere to pay their bills. Specifically, it was Pacific Northern Gas,” said Monaghan.
She explained these people could pay for Electricity and Phone, but had a problem paying for Gas. She called Craig Sears from PNG and he replied he would look into it.
Monaghan was not the only contributor. She explained how Councillor Edwin Empinado (who was not present at the meeting because he is attending a Conference on Vancouver Island) also sent a letter to PNG.
“This week, we got a little note that said, Joanne and Edwin, the following conversations last year in regard to bill payment options for Pacific Northern Gas. This will advise that we are now able to offer service allowing customers to pay their PNG bill over the phone using a credit card,” said Monaghan.
The number is 1-866-287-0039. She added the people she had talked to were encouraged because they did not have a way to pay their PNG bill. Monaghan expressed this is useful to a community trying to encourage the elderly to move in.
