REPORTING · 3rd October 2012
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat held its 4th public market under a grey day with light rain on September 23rd. Despite the weather, 15 venders came out and it was a successful market. In addition, the 4H club was out with horse rides for the kids. The Final market for the year will be on Sunday October 7th.

“Our plans are to get bigger and bigger. We really want to see this expand. We’re hoping to have regular music,” said Elizabeth MacDonald. “Next year, we are hoping that garage sale central or a flea market will happen here every second week.”

The venders have really been doing well at the market. Some venders sell out all of their product completely. Others tell us they are doing really well.

One vender who has been at all the public Markets is Lavern Cathers of Lavern’s Sweet and Savoury. She told us her business has been increasing every public market with the exception of one where the weather was bad.

Similarly, the Dragon Café has also been attending every public market and usually sell all of their goodies. Abilio Demelo told us they are popular wherever they go and people want to know if they will open another restaurant. He expressed appreciation of their customer base in Kitimat.
