Why is it that Kitimat has no benches or seats of any kind for their bus stops? My father is elderly, is diabetic, has specific health issues and he has a very hard time waiting for the bus and standing on his feet the entire time.
The reason he has been given is that vandals deface the benches, etc. I don't think this is a good enough reason.
Is that a good enough reason? Considering the percentage of people who absolutely depend on the Kitimat bus service such as; the elderly, pregnant and ill citizens, having to suffer while waiting for public transport?
I think this is cruel and unfair to them. In fact this is unnecessary cruelty. Do these poor citizens who struggle to stand and not faint, stand in pain, etc, have to carry portable chairs on their backs?
There aren't even seats built into the bus shelters as there are in other cities. I have to wonder what has happened to the Kitimat I grew up in.
Really... are seats so much to ask for? Especially for a town that is trying to create a "retirement community" feel. Doesn't the City care about these citizens who pay taxes and make up this community?
