REPORTING · 20th September 2012
The Terry Fox Run took place at Riverlodge on Sunday, September 16th. 25 people came out to participate in the run. Runners could run 1, 3, 5 or 7 kilometres, all around the Kildala Neighbourhood.
While only twenty five people participated this year, the amount of money raised for the Terry Fox Foundation was $1,195.87 cents of every dollar raised goes into Cancer research. Last year $27.5 million went into Cancer Research.
One Kitimat Resident has been running longer then most. Angus McLeod, who joined in the run on the 16th, was a participant in the Prince George Labour Day Classic of 1979. “Terry Fox was in it that year trying to raise support and funds for his Marathon of hope to follow in the Spring,” said McLeod.
This year’s run also marked the final year in which Anne Berrisford will be organizing the Terry Fox Runs. Berrisford passes the torch to Christine Doherty-Maggs.
