There has been a few concerns coming from the community concerning the Ultrasound Service at the Kitimat General Hospital. The position is currently vacant, and has not been eliminated according to Jonathan Cooper.
“Currently, there is an ultrasound technologist position vacant at the Kitimat General hospital due to a retirement. The position is currently posted, we have had some interest although ultrasound technologist are in high demand around Canada,” said Cooper.
He stated they were advertising the position at every possible level, including colleges and universities. In the mean time, agency staff will be working in Kitimat when appropriate and Terrace will be providing the service to avoid interruption in service.
Cooper also stated the waitlists are currently short, but will be monitored in case they pick up.
