Riverlodge held their Annual Summer Kick-Off on Friday, June 1st. The recreation centre was packed with families there to have fun and win some great prizes.

“We have a great group of coordinators, a great group of leaders and they’ve been working on the program. There are some new games we’re trying to incorporate, we’ve had a big brainstorming session as well as everyone’s unique talents,” said Linda Horianopoulos.

The new programs include a Lifeguard camp, a French camp and Bubble Makers. The Lifeguard Camp will spend the morning in the pool and the afternoon doing activities related to water safety. Bubble Makers is still in the works but it is a preschool program relating to bubbles.

Popular programs returning this year include “Everything You Wanted to Do but Your Mother Wouldn’t Let You.” Popular returning programs include Creepy Crawlies, a preschool program about insects, Water Wars and the camp out trips.

The programs kicked off on Friday, June 29th at the Riverlodge Facilities. The event was well attended by kids and their parents. The theme was a carnival where kids could participate in carnival games.

“It was a great time, I was really impressed with the staff at the kick off, they did an awesome job,” said Horianopoulos. “There were a lot of kids, more then I expected.”
