Festivals Kitimat
Festivals Kitimat plans are exploding as we are less than a week away from the Canada Day Celebration in Kitimat!

The Canada Day Celebrations starts off with the 4th Annual Memorial Hill Climb on June 30th, rain out day will be on July 1st, starting at 10:00am. Join the crowd to see who will be crowned King or Queen of the Hill 2012.

Start your Canada Day at the upper City Centre Mall parking lot from 7:00 – 11:00am enjoying a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Kitimat.

The annual Kinsmen Club of Kitimat Canada Day parade will be leaving from Mountainview Square at noon with many floats, marchers and vehicles decorated for Canada’s birthday. The best decorated floats representing the theme of “Canadian Spirit” will win prizes! You can still hand in your parade forms at our office in the lower main entrance of the mall or by contacting Sharole at 250-632-7440 or Christine at 250-632-6193. After the parade, the stage show will begin at Riverlodge from 1:00-4:00pm and 6:00-11:00pm then the fireworks will begin at 11:00pm. There will be door prizes, entertainment, and a raffle for the chance to win two tickets anywhere Hawkair will fly! Come out and show your support for local entertainers. Inside Riverlodge there will be a Canada Day birthday cake handed out by the Girl Guides, so make sure you come in to get a piece! The Girl Guides will also be handing out seedlings for those interested. Remember to bring along some non-perishable food items to help the charity Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournament happening in the Riverlodge Community Room from 12:00-6:00pm.

Outside Riverlodge you will find about 25 Food and Craft Vendors at our International Food and Craft Fair. On the field, there will be soccer and field lacrosse games from 12:00- 8:00pm. There will be good times and lots of prizes waiting for the kids at the Kid’s Fun Zone, hosted by the Kitimat Child Development Centre. The zone will be open from 1:30-3:45. Helicopter rides will also be happening from 2:00-6:30pm in baseball field #2 and in front of Riverlodge we will have pony rides from. End off your great day at Riverlodge with the fireworks display done by the Kitimat Fire Department taking place at 11:00pm.

Don’t forget on Canada Day that there is free public bus service from 10:00am-6:00pm, as well as a free fun swim from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre.

The Kitimat Canada Day Celebration continues on Saturday July 7th! Come out and watch the 7th Annual Dragon Boat Festival at the Minette Bay Marina opening ceremonies start at 12:00pm.
