Festivals Kitimat
Festivals Kitimat plans are well under way as we are only a few weeks away from Canada Day! There is still time to register for the Annual Kitimat Valley Run/Walk Festival taking place this Saturday, June 16th at Riverlodge. The 21K will start at 8:00am and the 5K and 10K will start at 9:00am. On Sunday June 17th make sure to check out the Family Fishing Day at the Rod and Gun Club from 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Festivals Kitimat and the Kinsmen Club are still taking application forms for the parade and hope that many will join the community spirit and come out with a decorated float that represents the theme of “Canadian Spirit”. Parade forms are available at our website:

The Canada Day Celebration on July 1st will start off with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 – 11:00am in the upper City Centre Mall parking lot. The Kinsmen Club parade leaves from Mountainview Square at 12pm and ends at Riverlodge. At Riverlodge on Canada Day you will find the International Food and Craft Fair beginning at 11:00am. The stage show begins at 1:00pm with performances by dance groups and singers. We are still looking for a few more performers! Feel free to call, e-mail or stop by to get an application form. Helicopter rides, pony rides, soccer and lacrosse games and the Kids Fun Zone. Inside you will find the birthday cake and tree seedling hand out by the Girl Guides of Canada. A Texas Hold-Em Tournament will be held in the Community Room from 12:00-6:00pm with a non- perishable food donation as an entry fee. The evening at Riverlodge will end with an amazing fireworks display put on by the Fire Department happening at 11:00pm.

Make sure you head to Tamitik for the 9th Annual Show & Shine Car Show from 1:00-4:00pm. Also, there is a FREE Swim from 6:00-9:00pm at the Sam Lindsay Aquatic Centre. Don’t forget that there is free public bus service from 10:00am-6:00pm on Canada Day.
