REPORTING · 14th June 2012

Last Week, Mayor Joanne Monaghan met with a pair of delegations and a journalist from China. She showed them around the town.

“It was very good,” said Monaghan. “They wanted to know if Kitimat was looking for industries, what we had to offer, if we had land, if we had that kind of scenario. They wanted to… feel us out.”

The delegations are going to take the information back to China and investors who want to invest in Kitimat. Monaghan does not know what industries they are going to bring into town.

The journalist was with the People’s Daily. He is doing a story on Kitimat for an economic development article to entice industries from China to come to Kitimat to invest.

The delegations will be back in a couple of weeks.
