Kitimat held its Fourth Annual Bull-O-Rama on Saturday, June 9th. 21 bull riders came out to win big prizes by riding a bucking bull.
“It was an awesome rodeo. The bull riding was excellent. We saw a lot of high 80 rides and quality 88-83 points. I thought all the guys tried really hard, there were some good wrecks. It was excellent,” said Earl Call of C+ Rodeo.
The Bull Riders came from all over the provinces of BC, Alberta and within the states. There were some young riders who are starting out and experienced riders who have been riding for a long time.
Each of the riders had two rides on the bull and did their best to stay on for the full 8 seconds. Many cowboys were thrown but a running tally on the scoreboard showed just how many were making it through their rides.
Entertaining the crowd between rides was rodeo clown Tyson Wagner. Between the cowboys 1st and 2nd rides, the Wild Horse Race and the Bull-O-Llama took place.
Jack Oviatt expressed the event was fantastic, it was packed. The stands were full and there were a lot of people in the beer gardens.
The top rider of the night and first place went to Cole Young. 2nd place went to Justin Davis, 3rd went to Charlie Attrill and 4th went to Mike Gill.
Whether or not the Bull-O-Rama will return next year is a decision which will wait. “We’ll see as time goes by. We don’t make decisions that quick,” said Oviatt.
“We’d love to coming up here. People love it and it’s a long ways from home but there’s lots of money for the guys,” said Call.
