REPORTING · 7th June 2012
Walter McFarlane
When Mayor Joanne Monaghan heard ICBC was having a discussion on insurance rates in Terrace, she asked them why they do not bring these public forums to Kitimat.

“They said ‘I’ll send you these booklets and everyone on your Council can look at them and fill them out,’” said Monaghan.

“ICBC is updating the way it sets premiums for basic vehicle insurance coverage. Our customers have told us the system would be fairer if lower risk drivers paid less for their vehicle insurance, and higher risk drivers paid more,” explains the preamble of the handout which Monaghan handed out.

They are consulting the public before they make the changes. The feedback is due in by the 22nd of June.

The information for the public is located on the ICBC website here.

This is a perfect example of where the Mayor's priorities lie.

Why are you not more concerned about Enbridge? Enbridge will have a bigger impact on your citizens than ICBC.

A public forum in Kitimat regarding ICBC (ha ha), how many people would show up?
If anything like any other number of forums or debates held, very few.

Please get your priorities straight.
