Trish Parsons from the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce stepped up at the Kitimat City Council Meeting on Monday, May 21st to provide a report on the Chamber. The majority of report was given to Council prior to the meeting in a portfolio of documents published by the Chamber of Commerce Advertising.

“It included our current visitor guide, the tour guide. We produce our hiking book and our fishing book. Then there are a number of fishing magazines, Tourism BC publications we advertise in, so it gives them a visual of what we’re advertising in,” said Parsons.

The Chamber of Commerce advertises in at least 20 publications.

In addition, there were several “Go-Fish Kitimat British Columbia” decals given to Council. Parsons also showed off a similarly branded T-Shirt. The Chamber will be working on this branding for the next couple of years.

“What we’ve been looking at focusing on different aspects. Right now, our theme is Go Fish. That’s been in a number of our ads. We’ve gone with decals, T-Shirts with the Go Fish branding on it, because that’s what Kitimat is well known for other then Oil and Natural Gas,” said Parsons.

Mayor Joanne Monaghan stated she is planning to send the package report to some friends of hers who would like to know more about the fishing in Kitimat. Parsons thanked Rosemary Brady who designed the brochures.
