The Kitimat Hill Climb is once again on the horizon. On Monday, May 7th, Harley Bell and Nathan Medeiros stepped up to ask Council for a grant for the Hill Climb.

“It’s about time for the Hill Climb again. We’re asking for your guys support again as in previous years for the hill,” said Bell. “[The dates are] June 30th and July 1st if we get rained out on June 30th.”

He explained if they did hold the races on July 1st, they would stop for the parade so they do not interfere with it.

Bell told Council they would like to do a dance. A local band has been located and a group has been taking in for the bartending. They are also anticipating more racers because Houston has ended their drag races.

He hoped the weather would be good. If they get rained out, they will have the dance and beer gardens and carry on the next day.

Councillor Mario Feldhoff made a motion to sponsor the Hill Climb for $15,000. The motion was called and carried.
