Kitimat Marlin Swim Club
Nine swimmers from the Kitimat Marlins Swim Club over the weekend attended the West Coast Open Swim Meet in Richmond. The competition was in a 50 meter pool and was a great opportunity for the Marlins in attendance to get some extra long course (50 meter pool) racing experience. The swim meet was very competitive with over 440 swimmers from 17 swim clubs in attendance all from the lower mainland except for the Marlins of course.

Kleanza Cathers (12) lead the way with a first place overall finish in the 11-12 girls 400 meter freestyle, 2nd place finish in the 100 freestyle and 200 meter butterfly and a 4th place finish in the 50 meter freestyle.

Zachary Dumas (12) also had four top 8 placings in the 11-12 boys category with a 6 th place finish in the 50 and 200 meter backstroke, 7th in the 100 back and 8th in the 200 Individual Medley.

Hannah Pearson (10) had 3 top 8 finishes in the 10 and under girls category with a 6 th place finish in the 100 backstroke and a 8th place finish in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle.

Leah Desousa (9) competing in the 10 and under girls category placed 5th in the 100 butterfly and 8th in the 50 backstroke.

Brander Pacheco (13) competing in the 13-14 boys division placed 6th in the 100 meter butterfly, 8th in the 200 Individual Medley

Paige Collier (14) competing in the 13-14 girls had her best placing in the 200 meter freestyle with an 11 place finish.

Raychel Davies (12) competing in the 11-12 girls had her best placing in the 100 meter butterfly with a 12th place finish.

Morgan Nichol (11) competing in the 11-12 girls had her best placing in the 200 meter backstroke with a 16th place finish.

Makenna Fisk (12) competing in the 11-12 girls had her best placing in the 100 meter freestyle with a 17th place finish.
