REPORTING · 26th April 2012
The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation held their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, April 18th. The purpose of the meeting was to elect directors and determine their first purpose.
“We’ve had an exciting year since a small group of us got together to draft a constitution and bylaw to establish the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation,” said Chair, Corrine Scott at the beginning of the meeting. “As a group of concerned citizens, we have conviction it was necessary to raise money to help support the health services in Kitimat. With our aging population, the Northern Health Authority is challenged to fulfill the needs in the North and our hospital and multilevel care facility is a service we all need.”
Scott stated the Bull-O-Rama helped sponsor the foundation in 2011 and has agreed to do the same in 2012. They also received donations from the Kinsmen and Cenovus.
The Directors consisted of Scott, who became the chair, Doug Reed, Phillis Rooney, Barb Campbell, Mario Feldhoff, Rob Goffinet, Doug Thompson, Carl Whicher, Vickey Kokesh and Debbie Oviatt.
Following the election, the Hospital Foundation received a presentation from the Kitimat Community Foundation. They also discussed several potential investments they could make in the hospital.
