Kitimat Hospice Palliative Care Association is celebrating their 20 years anniversary in the community of Kitimat this year. The non-profit association consists of an executive, directors, trained and screened hospice visitors, a volunteer coordinator and office/activities volunteers. The office is located on the 2nd floor of the Mall at 233 City Centre and is open from 1-3 pm every Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Our goal is to help support people living with terminal illness and their caregivers, both in the hospital and home settings, while respecting confidentiality and personal beliefs. Referrals are accepted from members of the general public, physicians, nurses, home support, family, friends, clergy or any other concerned person. Our motto is “You are not alone... asking for help can make a difficult road easier.”
During the week of May 6 to May 12 Kitimat Hospice Palliative Care Association will have a display table just outside the office. You are invited at that time to come and check out what KHPCA has to offer.
Other planned activities for this year are a Hike for Hospice scheduled for Saturday, May 26, a Twentieth Anniversary celebration in October and our annual ‘Tree of Life’ booth at the mall during the Christmas Season.
If you or someone you know needs Hospice care, or if you would like more information please contact Kitimat Hospice Palliative Care Association at 250 632-2278 or come visit us during office hours.
