Local Boxer Matthew Ruff, ranked as the #2 BC Junior Light Heavyweight was given the opportunity to fight for the BC, Junior Light Heavyweight Championship in front of 700 people in Langley at the Cascade Casino this weekend. Ruff has been with the Kitimat Boxing club for about 4 years now.
“It was a good experience down there. They had a very good event going,” said Ruff. “I lost to decision. I thought it was a fair decision. There was a lot of grabbing going on in the fight.”
Ruff expressed his opponent had a longer reach, but he was able to get into it and land a solid punch before being grabbed again.
He is not taking his loss to hard. He had a good time in the Vancouver area and it took hard work and a lot of training to get him there.
“If you have a passion, work hard. If you are dedicated, you will get there eventually,” said Ruff.
