In the past, Kitimat Leisure Services have hosted a number of holiday based carnivals for the local children. This Easter, they have added a new event into the mix. On Sunday, April 1st, this new event was held at Tamitik Arena.
“Well, we’re having our first ever Egg Extravaganza,” said Marcy Rice, Recreation Programmer.
A donation for the Food Bank admitted the youth into the event. Businesses from around the community were invited to set up a station for the kids to visit, complete an activity and collect a stamp for their passport.
Stations included an Easter Bunny Hunt, where participants had to construct a paper rabbit from parts scattered around the arena, Bunny Bowling where Kids attempted a strike on decorated pins, pin the tail on the rabbit and shoot the rabbit where youth were given a hockey stick and had to hit a rabbit with a ball.
In addition, there were crafts, a concession and face painting. At the end of the day, the children who completed their passports could enter them for prizes from local business. There was also a colouring contest involving the rabbit from the Easter Bunny Hunt.
