Kitimat Marlin Swim Club
Alivia Salema (11) from the Kitimat Marlins Swim Club received a $125 reward cheque from Swim BC, the provincial swimming governing body. The Regional Athlete Development Award and cheque came for Alivias performance at the recent AAA Provincial Swim championships in Surrey.

The Regional Athlete Development Award is given to the regional swimmer with the most points at the AAA Provincial Championships. The Northwest region currently consists of teams from Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert and Kitimat respectively.

Points are scored for every top 8 finish at the Provincials, 8 points for first down to 1 point for 8th. Alivia had the most points out of any swimmer in the region at the meet by taking the bronze in the 11 and under girl’s 400 meter freestyle, 4th in the 800 meter freestyle and 5th in the 400 meter individual medley.
