REPORTING · 26th March 2012

The Kitimat Snowmobile and Hiking Club have completed a new cabin up on Claque Mountain. They will be having a grand opening for the cabin on March 31st at noon at the cabin followed by a barbeque.

“We recently completed the new cabin up on Claque Mountain as part of the ongoing Claque Mountain Recreation Area Restoration Work,” said Chad Fournier at the City Council Meeting on March 19th.

He was at the meeting to invite Mayor Joanne Monaghan to a ribbon cutting and dedication of a plaque to the significant contributors of the project. The District of Kitimat was a significant contributor to the project.

If anyone planning to hike with snowshoes, it estimated to take 3 hours to get to the cabin from the road. We are told lots of people are planning to go so the trail will be well marked.
