REPORTING · 20th March 2012

The BC Oil and Gas Commission held an open house in Kitimat on Thursday, March 15th. We were told it was very poorly attended by the public.

“At the BC Oil and Gas Commission, we’re hosting a series of Community Meetings, here in Kitimat, as well as in Vanderhoof and Burns Lake Next week. The main point is to come to these regions and let people know who we are and what we do and what we regulate and start to have a bit of a presence here,” said Hardy Friedrich, communications Manager for BC Oil and Gas.

The BC Oil and Gas commission regulate oil and gas activities in British Columbia. They make decisions on permits for wells, pipelines and water use all the way to the end of a project.

Friedrich stated with the Pacific Trails Pipeline starting to gear up, they will be spending a lot of time in Kitimat. They traditionally work in the Fort Saint John / Dawson Creek area.
