INCOMING!!! One of several stray pucks unintentually given away during the tournament.
REPORTING · 17th March 2012

There are hockey games tempers run high and the penalty box is always well stocked. The Friday night game of the Coy Cup was not one of these games.

Both the Kitimat Ice Demons and the Williams Lake Stampeders took to the ice with the tournament on the line. The winner of this game would go on to play against the Smithers Steelheads in the Final game tonight.

Kitimat players scored the first goal of the game almost halfway into the first period. As the timer ran down however, Williamís Lake scored their first goal of the game. The first period ended in a tie, 1-1.

The second period was tense. The score was tied and both teams were working hard to make this their best game of the tournament. Both teams played well.

The break in the tie however came 6 minutes and 5 seconds into the third period when the puck soared past the Stampederís defences and into the goal. Within the last minute, Williams lake tried pulling their goal tender leading to Kitimat almost scoring again.

They put the goalie back but it did not help. With 11 second left on the clock, Kitimat gets their third goal of the evening winning the game.

Kitimat will return tonight to face the Smithers Steelheads in the final game of the tournament.
