The Coy Cup entered it’s third day on Thursday, March 15th. Two games were played, Quesnel took on Williams Lake and Kitimat took on Smithers.

The action between the Williams Lake Stampeders and the Quesnel Kangaroos was fierce as both teams had a lot on the line. 5 goals were scored in the first period, the first 6 minutes and 9 seconds in. All five goals were scored within 5 and a half minutes of each other, 3 for Stampeders and two for the Kangaroos.

In the second period, the Stampeders fired three more goals past the Quesnel Goaltender. Try as they might, Quesnel could not land another point. The game ended 6-2 and Quesnel will not be returning for another game.

The Kitimat Ice Demons went up against the Smithers Steelheads. This was the match which had been anticipated. Kitimat went into the mach with two wins and Smithers went into it with a win and a tie. The winner of this game would not have to play on Friday Night and would go straight to Saturday’s game.

In the first two periods, Smithers put three goals past the Kitimat goaltender. In the third period, the Demons spend most of the time in front of the Steelhead goal firing shot after shot upon it. Only one goal went in however. Smithers Scored one more time to bring the final score 4-1 in Smithers favour.

This means tonight’s game is Kitimat vs. Williams Lake at 8:00 Pm. The winner will move on to play against the Smithers Steelheads in the final game of the tournament at 8:00 Pm. on Saturday.
