Wednesday saw plenty of Coy Cup Action in Kitimat as hockey fans came out to cheer on their favourite teams.

The Williams Lake Stampeders and Smithers Steelheads clashed on the ice. Williamís Lake scoring their first goal of the tournament right away at the beginning of the first period. However, Smithers tied up the game in the middle of the second period.

As the second period drew to a close, Smithers took the lead scoring their second goal of the game. Williams lake though was not far behind, their second goal sounded with the snap of a broken hockey stick. The second period ended 2-2.

The third goal came near the beginning of the third period for Williamís Lake. As the close of the game drew nearer, Smithers made several attempts to get past the Goal Tender for Williamís Lake. Finally, Smithers lands a goal with 2 minutes and 53 seconds left on the clock. When the buzzer goes, the score is tied at three goals a piece.

Sudden Death Overtime is called. 5 minutes go up on the clock but neither team scores. The game ends in a draw.

The Kitimat Ice Demons on the other hand took on Quesnel Kangaroos. Kitimat did not get their first goal until 3 minutes and 55 seconds into the second period. Kitimat did not let up their offensive and scored another goal in the second and two more goals in the third period. Nick Markowsky pulled off a hat trick during this game.

As the game progressed, tempers began to run high from the Quesnel Bench. Several players from both teams were removed from the ice due to both injuries and penalties.

Williams Lake will take on Quesnel at 5:00 Pm. Kitimat will take on Smithers at 8:00 Pm.
