Residents of Kitimat and Terrace ventured out to the Onion Lake Ski Trails to partake in the Carnival d’hiver et Cabane a Sucre put on by the Terrace and Kitimat Parents for French. The sun was out for the afternoon and despite a little snow, everyone had fun.

This is Cabane Sucre, it’s a winter festival. Celebrate the French Culture here in Canada,” said Lisa Fraser. “It is the first time that we have done it. Hopefully, it is the first annual event and it’s been a great day,” said Lisa Frazer.

Kids of all ages were busy building snow forts, tobogganing, playing hockey, sledding, snow showing and cross country skiing. To add to the event, there was hot Maple toffee served over snow.

“I think this is a fabulous family event, babies up to Grandparents and everybody’s been trying every activity too. The sunshine is helping,” said Frazer.

The turn out was a success. Frazer hoped more people would come out next year.
