Kevin Barry of Coastal Taxi stepped up to the podium on Monday, February 20th to let the Council know about the restrictions on Taxi Cabs in Kitimat.
“I’m just here regarding your motion on January 4th on the restriction of taxis in Kitimat. There is no restriction to the amount of taxis that I can have. Right now, I have 8 taxis out on the road and in the very near future, I will be expanding my business as the availability of the town needs it,” said Berry.
Councillor Mario Feldhoff asked Berry about the wait for a cab at 10:00 at night. He had thought there was a restriction. Berry expressed trips to the Village and back took half an hour. He had been late to the meeting because it was busy and some times, people will have to wait.
Councillor Corrine Scott thanked him for his presentation. She explained she had been concerned the District had been restricting his businesses and was happy this is no the case.
