REPORTING · 8th February 2012
There has been a long awaited report to Council on the Snow Removal services in our community which was expected at the Regular Meeting of Council on January 16th. While the community holds it’s breath in anticipation of the report, snow removal services keep coming up at Council Meetings.
At the Meeting of February 6th, a letter, received via email from Eva Krekic expressed concerns about icy sidewalks in the community. While walking her dog on January 12th, she fell and hit her head hard enough to make her see her doctor.
While she was there, she met a second woman who injured the left side of her upper body in a fall.
“I don’t understand why there isn’t sanding going on,” writes Krekic. She expressed the roads were not sanded as well and conditions were the worst she has seen in 25 years of living in Kitimat.
Councillor Mario Feldhoff made a motion to respond to this letter and provide an update as to what occurred. Tim Glieg, Director of Engineering Services explained they cannot be everywhere at once. He will look into this situation.
He added they have quite a few letters on this and they respond to it. Mayor Joanne Monaghan commended his effort to reply. The motion was called and carried.
