REPORTING · 24th January 2012

Councillor Corrine Scott was concerned about the Community Grants and Sponsorship Program ran by Council. She made a motion for administration to look into the cost of Operating or participating in an event and bring back recommended changes.

“During the past year, administration has brought a number of grant requests from community organizations to Council for their consideration. Administration provides the recommendation based on the Kitimat community grants sponsorship program which was last revised in May, 2007. Quite often, Council decides to not follow the Administration Recommendations and provide additional grant funds to the organizations based on the individual circumstances,” said Scott.

She stated this trend could cause difficulties for the Administration to follow the guidelines. This is also not fair to some of the organizations.

Councillor Mario Feldhoff agreed, but stated they did went against the recommendation occasionally rather then all the time.

The motion was called and carried.
