CONTRIBUTION · 10th January 2012
The Kitimat Municipal Workers Union CAW 2300, ratified the tentative agreement on January 10,2012, with a 73% percent approval. This set of bargaining was extremely difficult.
It did not help that the new Municipal Manager decided to not get involved in the bargaining process. The Union for the first time ever in its history even bared its soul to the Mayor and Council in a report, but sadly our report fell on deaf ears.
There are many problems in the organization to the point a lot of employees are ashamed to be working for the District of Kitimat.
Some of the Union Executive are so disillusioned, including myself, that we have resigned from our Union Executive positions.
Sadly the District of Kitimat is not the great place to work that it once was.
